Switzerland sets out position in the US case against UBS
July 2nd, 2009 . byThe Swiss government filed, on 30 April 2009, a brief with the US District Court in Miami setting out its legal position in the civil proceeding against Swiss bank UBS and emphasising that Switzerland’s legal system, and thus its sovereignty, must be respected.
The US Department of Justice and the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are requesting the handing over of information on 52,000 account holders suspected of tax evasion.
