Japan’s new Prime Minister, Taro Aso, has wasted little time in putting forward his plans for fixing the ailing Japanese economy, announcing proposals for package of temporary tax and spending measures in an address to parliament on Monday.

Alistair Darling, the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer has spoken out this week to assure taxpayers that they will not be expected to pick up the entire bill for the recent nationalization of banking giant Bradford and Bingley.
